The Little Things

Another great installment in the annals of liberal bias in the media. Actually, this is a very small one, but one worth noting. Today, Saturday March 4, is the day of the week for the morning radio addresses by the parties. The Democratic address was given by Francine Busby, who is running to replace a typical corrupt evil Rebribelican asshole - Duke Cunningham. The AP article filed by Erika Werner I'm citing discusses the substance of her argument about the almost incomprehensible ports deal. At the very end of the article, she ontes that Busby is seeking to replace Cunningham. Who's Cunningham? According to the article:
Cunningham resigned last year and pleaded guilty to accepting $2.4 million from defense contractors and others in exchange for steering government contracts their way.
This is true. However, the detail I'd like to point out, and is entirely absent from the article is that YESTERDAY Cunningham received 8 years, 4 months in federal prison. The longest sentence ever given to a member of Congress. So, rather than say, Cunningham, who was sentenced to prison for over 8 years freaking yesterday, resigned last year and pleaded guilty to blah blah blah, we get nothing. Does Erika Werner not know this? Is she not aware? Did she self-edit that one out? Did her editors? Because, it's kind of a significant nugget of info - an unprecedented conviction - yesterday.

We still understand that Cunningham is a bad guy from the description given. But in an era of Bush media toadies, far worse than this kind of shit happens all the time. This is the mildest of quibbles, mentioned in my blog to make a point.

An important detail? You tell me.
